Brief History of History Department

The Department of History was started in 1982. The Department offers in History with Political Science and Economics as Subsidiaries. The B.A. course was attracted hundreds of students since the inception of the college.  Majority of the students coming from in and around the villages and most of them socially and economically background. Almost all the students belong to the agricultural and daily wage labour community and they were the first generation to enter into undergraduate courses. Eminent Lecturers like Dr. K. Maddaiah, State Teacher Award, Dr. S. Abdul Khadar, State Teacher Awardee, and Principal of Silver Jubilee College, Kurnool worked in the department.  Every academic year Dept. of History is organizing Field trips, seminars, extension activities, providing study material, Numismatic Exhibition, etc. for the development of the student community. Dept. of History was prepared 50 ICT topics and 22 topics were uploaded in the APCCE.LMS.gov. in/ also.  Dept. of History using Digital Boards to explain the topics and conducting Quiz through the Google sheets. During Corona Pandemic History faculty members had prepared video topics using ICT tools and shared them with the student community. Faculty members were participated in National and International seminars, workshops, and presented papers. The department had a good collection of Library books and other useful materials. Sri. A. Venkata Swamy, in-charge of the Department, and Sri,G.Nageswara Rao, actively participated in institutional responsibilities. The Dept. of History presenting lessons in MANA T.V program, which is organized by APCCE, Vijayawada and also acting Subject Expert Committee Member for Making Videos of History subject in the State.
